Pwllheli- Gateway to the Llyn Peninsula

Pwllheli itself, meaning "salt water pool", is an old market town the gateway to the spectacular Llyn Peninsula- which over 600 years ago was given the Borough Charter by the Black Prince.

Pwllheli is an ideal location for touring the Llyn Peninsula with a host of attractions, activity centres, quaint villages and award
winning beaches located close by.

The towns Marian y De beach has obtained European standards in water quality and from here you can enjoy walks along the Promenade.

The town is full of character with its narrow streets, shops and cafes and is bustling every Wednesday when the open air market is held on Y Maes. Hafan Pwllheli Marina, which is one of Britains finest marinas and sailing centres, is an European Centre of Excellence in Sailing, playing host to a number of National and International sailing and watersports events.

There is an excellent leisure centre - Canolfan Hamdden Dwyfor- which offers many facilities including a swimming pool.

Pwllheli has a variety of places to visit and things to see. Hafan y Mor, on the outskirts of Pwllheli, offers an excellent indoor "starsplash" swimming pool. Relive ancient history at Penarth Fawr, a medieval stone house with a superb wooden interior or visit National Trusts Plas yn Rhiw on the Llyn, a 17/19th  century Welsh manor house set in ornamental gardens. Also visit Plas Glyn y Weddw art gallery, at Llanbedrog a unique Victorian gothic mansion with ongoing exhibitions and landscaped gardens.
